Newnan, Georgia based Optiledge LLC has acquired the OptiLedge™ brand from IKEA,and now is the exclusive global supplier of the Optiledge, the Swedish innovation created by IKEA.

“We focus strictly on customers outside of IKEA who want to take advantage of this great technology,” says Jeff Lamb, Founder and President of OptiLedge LLC. Lam has been involved with the OptiLedge for over eight years. “With production in the USA, Europe and Asia and a team of technical and sales professionals around the world, we can now effectively engage with any sized company and help them use this amazing technology. We are now truly positioned to deploy the OptiLedge worldwide for commercial use.”

“We are extremely excited to have acquired OptiLedge from IKEA. Now, whether it’s a US company sourcing products in Asia, a European company sourcing in the Americas, or a South African company sourcing in the Europe, we provide one face to the customer no matter where they are located,” Lamb adds.

For customers outside of IKEA who want to take advantage of this technology, up until now there has never been a single global entity responsible for marketing, production and sales.

The Optiledge, known within IKEA as the loading ledge, was instrumental, along with paper pallets, in IKEA’s decision to phase out wood pallets in 2012, a worldwide story that was broken by Packaging Revolution, and cited by subsequent Reuters coverage.

optiledgeThe Optiledge offers attractive benefits for international shippers of unitized loads, notably a light weight, low profile solution that can be readily sized to fit loads of varying sizes which is ISPM 15 exempt as it is manufactured from plastic.

“This dramatic move by IKEA sends a strong message to other supply chain stakeholders that there are real cost effective alternatives to traditional wooden pallet, states Jonathan North, Senior Manager of Sustainability at Inter IKEA Systems, as quoted in an Optiledge LLC release. “There is nothing very unique about IKEA’s supply chain, so the savings and benefits are equally applicable to other users, whether in the retail industry or not.”
